History

Early days

In the early 1970s, the company purchased its first articulated lorries and won major contracts with Birnham Products and Aristoc. Allegro grew rapidly and by the end of the decade Allegro was opening depots across Europe. The philosophy was the same as it was when it had been Frank Litchfield and a single truck - whatever the request; the company would do everything in its power to get it done. With this simple premise, Frank Litchfield had found a winning business formula.

In 1990 Frank Litchfield retired, leaving his son Andrew to take over where he had left off. Andrew set about turning the flourishing haulage company into a major player in the logistics industry.

Story so far

Today, the company is considered to be one of the East Midlands leading independent logistics firms, providing an array of distribution services to some of the biggest blue chip companies.

Future

Although Allegro has grown dramatically over the past half century, it has never lost the 'family feel' and bespoke service that made the business a success in the first place. Every customer is treated with the quality service they deserve and expect from our friendly, approachable and highly skilled team and, no matter how large the business becomes, this 'can-do' attitude is something that will never change.
